I know this should be simple but how do I dual boot Vista Ultimate and XP Pro. I have created two seperate partitions and installed each one in its own partition but it won't display the boot menu on startup to select XP or Vista.

Which one did you install first? If XP was there, and you added Vista afterward, the Vista install will create the boot menu for you.

if it doesnt show the OS choice menu then which OS does it boots into ?... the OS choice menu appear only if you installed vista after xp. XP cannot detect presence of vista. so if u installed xp later you will need some program like BCDedit to re enable the boot menu. however i am not sure how exactly is this done

K I installed Vista after XP and I can't get the boot menu. When I go to Control Panel >> System >> Advanced System Settings >> Startup and Recovery, under the Default Operating System list only Vista is listed. I am going to try to completely reinstall everything tonight. Hopefully it works.

Ok I got the dual boot working after completely reinstalling everything. One Question tho, if I want to use certain prgrams in both operating systems, like iTunes, do I need to install them twice?

not exactly........ certain programs like winamp works without installation. firefox is also another example. you can try installing to the same location in both xp and vista to reduce disk space. however this is not recommended if u r to reformat reinstall often.........

It will automatically boot into Vista I got it working last yr when I had XP on C drive and Vista on D. Do I have to intall XP first and then Vista? Thanks

You can set this up manually using EasyBCD and manually working with the boot files. If you are interested in trying this post back.
