Hi, i recently installed ubuntu "inside" windows for dual boot options. However, I noticed a signicant decrease in performance when I enter windows vista. Is it because I have two os and it is slowing my computer down or is it because of something else?

I know when you put the Ubuntu live CD in and the options come up of installing it inside your OS, it says that you will experience a bit of a decrease in performance... but I assumed that would be for Ubuntu only, lol.

If it only happened after Ubuntu was installed... I would suggest uninstalling it and seeing if you get your performance back. If you do, then install it on a different partition or hard drive by booting from it.

Inside Windows ? as on a virtual machine ? Or is your linux distro on a separate partition ? In either case it shouldn’t slow down your Vista performance. If you are running a virtual machine, then it might slow down Vista ONLY when you load and run the virtual machine; but not when you do normal work without the VM with Ubuntu running on the background.

Speaking about Linux slowing down a computer - I've got the same feeling on my old Medion that whenever I load SUSE Linux XP is slow to start the next time round...
Its 2 partitions by the way.

(not that I need the laptop, its more something to play around with now)
