ok , heres the story.... im using a windows xp home edition 2002 sp3 with two 512 sticks ddr2 ram - 2.0 gig hertz processor and e-geforce 6200 graphics card with 256mb ddr2 by nvidia. with a 120 gig HDD, this operating system was perfect for me and ran with no problem , i have 100's of dollars of software on it that i bought , itunes containing 900 songs 23 vids, obviously this OS and its contents are EXTREMELY important to me...

the problem was.. when my friend obtained a 10 GB HDD , formatted it then gave it to me, he asked "you want this hard drive from my old pc" ,i said "sure 10 gb of free space for me"
then i put it into my windows xp home edtion , after configuring the jumper switches on my main internal drive and on this 10 gig internal drive , hooked it up and my xp noticed it, i was able to see it in "my computer" and all that good stuff, then i decided i was going to put ubuntu 8.0 by linux on there , so i did, i installed it on the 10 GB HDD fine and i messed around with ubuntu for awhile , then i wanted to boot xp , so i restarted it and grub loaded all my options, ubuntu generic / ubuntu recovery / ubuntu memtst / and windows xp home edition , i select windows xp home edition and its never loads... right after i select xp home edition and hit enter an error message containing white text and black background comes up saying "TRAP 000006 ===== EXCEPTION======" and under it is a bunch of odd letters and numbers, this never happened before untill after i installed ubuntu - linux. but ubuntu will load fine and im able to do stuff in there but all the important files are on windows xp home edition. can any one help me solve my problem... thanks p.s. i already ran memory test for my two sticks of ram and they work properly.

This is going to sound mean though that isn't exactly the intention.... ok!

First off, if you post contained a lot less fluff and more structure (you know - paragraphs, periods and the like) someone may actually try to help out. Instead, they'll probably just hit the back button while snickering.

The ONLY reason I am replying is your above quoted comment. That's not really going to make folks trip over themselves to help out ATALL.

Next would be proper placement of your query. Since the problems began after your wonderful leap to Ubuntu (I use it 100% of the time), I'd have posted this in the "Linux" sub forum.

Now, since this is "technically" a notebook / laptop forum (hence the name www.notebookreview.com ) and the fact your problems arose after installing the enfamous Ubuntu - I would have ran straight to www.ubuntuforums.org . There are a great bunch of folk over there, just dying to lend a hand and spread the love! WARNING - they'll ignore you too if you don't properly (or a bit more structured at least) post your question.

Be specific - don't beat around the bush.

Be appreciative - you'd expect the same.

Remember one final thought - computers are only as smart as those who pound the keyboards.

In the end, I hope you get a resolution to your "specific" issue.

    Thanks for playing...

PS. I'm no English major (duh huh!) but aren't those paragraph thingys really cool? Even a period or two helps out.
