you need/want a multi-boot manager, plenty of references on the web and wikia on it.

have you considered running XP as a guest OS inside of win7 using a virtual machine such as virtualbox?

I need windows xp because I have some video games that don't work on windows 7. I need to split the harddrive in half 1 for windows 7 and the other windows xp. I have the windows 7 that came with my m17xr2 and I have windows xp which I bought 5 years ago.

have you made sure the games don't run in xp? i've found patches for all games i have (often non-official ones). all runs on win7 by now.

only stuff that is that old that it can't run on a non-16bit platform don't. but for those, emulation is about the only way anyways.

I tryied to install mass effect with all dlcs and the dlcs don't show up on the dlcs menu after installing them. But on my other laptop with windows xp 32 bit it everything works fine. I am installing on the m17x because the other laptop video card is broken.

It looks like Mass Effect CAN be played on Win7:
    Mass Effect on Windows 7

Looks like different people have different issues getting it to work, but some have no problems at all. Seems that patches are the first, most important, thing.
