I have a Core 2 Duo and Ultimate SP1 x86 installed. I want to test out x64 before I upgrade to it because I'm going to uni and don't wanna be caught with an incompatible program that's crucial to my mark. I have 2 partitions, or maybe it's actually 2 hard drives. Can I install x64 on the second partition? If so, do I install it normally (burn to disc, follow instructions) or is there a set of special instructions?

I don't see why not. Just make sure not to overwrite your current partition.

I installed Ultimate along with my Premium on the same HD.

If it's the same HD the boot files will be moved to the new partition if it's marked active when installing. If not marked active, the boot files will remain on the original. I think you will have only 1 set of boot files. Maybe this could be a problem if deciding to remove one????? Would this be the same with 2 HDs??? If you disconnected one HD to install another Vista would the vista's play well together when hooked back up???

I had a problem with one making a change to the other and I would then get a BSOD on the changed one. Solved this by hiding each partition individually and booting the other. Now both partitions are unhidden and all is OK. If there was a problem with 2 HDs maybe this would work also by disconnecting one then the other.

I hade to copy the boot files from one to the other with UBCD4Win and I installed EasyBCD on both
