    Hi guys

I've just ordered an Asus M70VM. :yay:

It's coming with Vista Home Premium

In the event that I may want to dual boot with XP in order to play games and use some programs I have (assuming that Vista doesn't play nicely with the games/programs I have (I don't actually know for the most part if or what games/programs I have don't work in Vista as I've never really tried, despite having Vista dual booting on my current rig)) so I shall need to get XP drivers for it.

Now I have been looking around and Asus don't have any XP drivers on their website, and I can't find any XP drivers out there when I use google for the Asus M70VM.

I have had Driver Genius in the past, didn't find it all that useful to be honest, but if I install that on the Vista install can I ask it to find drivers for XP and get them that way?

Also where would I get the SATA driver for the Asus M70VM? - that'll be my first stumbling block...

Are there any other programs out there that I could use to get the drivers, and would I need to get XP installed first (albeit not working properly) in order to use them?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice, it will be greatly appreciated as I'm venturing into uncharted territory in terms of putting XP on a notebook model I've never ever had dealings with before :)

I ordered a m70sa-a1. Three days later got an e-mail stating
my order was going to be delayed because the m70sa was discontinued
and was being replaced by the m70vm. I contacted the merchant
and asked what changes were going to be made and they said that
the only major change was going to be the new centrino 2 processor.

So my guess is that most of the drivers for the m70sa would
    work on the m70vm..

Here is a link to the drivers for all components. Most drivers
    should be compatible with XP.

Hopefully you have good results since I will be doing exactly the same
    thing to mine.

Where did you order from? I ordered from Xoticpc.com, they had the option
to ship with XP and a backup CD with all the utilities and drivers, so I know
they exist. You should see if the retailer would be nice enough to send you
a CD with all that stuff on there.

I ordered mine from www.meshcomputers.com, there page says it comes with a core 2 duo cpu not a centrino 2?

No option for XP unfortunately, I might drop them an email asking them if they could send me a cd with XP drivers though...

It is not a good idea to have 2 O.S. in one hard. This will short its live cycle.

As you know, ASUS notebooks does not support Windows XP. The drive you can find in the market, can not work on the new VGA Cards.

    Good Luck!

    @ravenmorpheus

    Did You receive Your M70VM?
Can You please tell me the Monitor-ID in the device manager.
    Is it an AUO2088?
    Are You satisfied with it?

    Thank You

Er yes I have received, yesterday in fact. Why are you interested in the Monitor-ID?

I'm not entirely satisfied as I have a sound issue and the numerical keypad isn't as good as I had hoped - the home/end/pgup/pgdn and other similar keys are only obtainable by taking numlock off...

Anyway I couldn't locate the Monitor-ID but if you want to let me know precisely where to look I'll be able to let you know. :)
