My laptop has the option to hook up a secondary monitor and use it as an extension of the windows desktop. (dual monitor)

I have a HP 8510p laptop running Vista and a 19' LCD monitor that I usually use with an desktop PC running XP. When I use the monitor with the aforementioned PC everything looks fine, but when I use it as a secondary monitor for my laptop the color/hue/saturation/contrast doesn't look right anymore. The screen seems to dark, the contrast to strong and the colors a bit too reddish.

My laptop runs with a ATI HD 2600 graphics card and the ATI tool allows me to change the color settings of the secondary monitor, but no matter how hard I try to tweak the settings, I just can't get the color right.

I was thinking that maybe I have to change to color profile, like those in Photoshop, but I have no idea how to do it.

Did anyone encounter the same problem? How can I solve it?
