I'm an XP user (SP3), but recently got a new notebook, which comes with Vista.
I will be putting in a new HDD, and wish to do a clean install, of both XP and Vista on it, to boot from either. (XP that I'm used to, many say it is faster, etc., and Vista to try out, see what it's like) (I have install discs for both OSes.)
Is there a good guide or tutorial someone could recommend, here or elsewhere, on how best to set up dual-boot, on a new hard drive?
For instance, is it better to install one of the two OSes first, or does the install order not matter? How will one get the prompt on bootup, to select one of the OSes? Etc. Any suggestions on how best to do this, would be appreciated.
Besides an outside guide or tutorial, of course, the subject could be discussed in this thread.
Thanks in advance.

Yes, install the oldest operating system first.
If it were me, I would put Vista on the newer drive (likely faster) -
I dont know if its better to install XP first or vice versa. I installed XP Pro on my system with Vista installed first. Here's the guide.
Just select the options under "related-howto's", for the guide with XP installed first or vista installed first.

It can be done both ways, but It is easier to install XP first. The user doesn't need to do anything but point the install at the different harddrives.

In my opinion, it would probably be easier for you to install the OS that came with the hardddrive first, as you'll already have all the drivers in place after installation.

If I was keeping Vista as it is currently on the notebook, then I would just do an XP install, to make it dual-boot. However, the shipped Vista configuration, on the Sony Vaio notebook (that probably says a lot already) is filled with bloatware. So, I want to do a clean install of both OSes.
