I have Googled up and down the internet and all I can conclude is that ICS is renown for not working on win 8. I have read forums where people were advised to set internet connection sharing to automatic but delayed, in service menu. I have also read that Route and Remote Access need to be switched from off to automatic.

I've tried this, but that hasn't helped.

I'm not particularly well versed in computer usage, let alone networking. All I know is that I had an HP with windows 7 which I connected via Ethernet to the campus network. I then used netsh wlan hostednetwork to share that connection with my other devices. Sometimes, I would switch between sharing the PPPoE connection, and a VPN connection, when I needed to use the VPN property for my other wireless devices.

The E14P comes with Vaio Control Center. It doesn't work for sharing my connection. It gives an error message telling me I'm connected to a wireless WAN -even if I'm not connected to anything (wired or wireless).

I of course tried what I was doing on Windows 7, only to find that it doesn't work. And as mentioned previously, I have perused the web some, only to find that indeed it doesn't work.

I'm tired, frustrated, and I've got a headache. When I purchased the laptop, I was looking for improvement, not unnecessary waste of time trying to figure out what once worked fine, before. Should I upgrade my computer to Windows 7 from Windows 8?

If anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with this situation, I'd greatly appreciate any advice.

    Thanks

I'm sure there will be some who will jump on this and say "yes" (I'm looking at you, Pirx!). Honestly, if 8 isn't doing what you need it to do, then I would say yes - but be advised in order to downgrade, there are restrictions.

See Understanding downgrade rights for info on this.
