    Hey fellow NBRers,

Is there any program out there that can modify the EQ of all the sound your computer plays? I'm looking for a stand-alone EQ program, not a music player software (i.e. iTunes) with EQ panel incorporated into it.

    Thanks!

    The first link says:
    Invalid OS (Win/Mac/Linux)
Both Free & Commercial were unspecified...
...at least one must be chosenInvalid Type

And almost everything in the second link costs ~$20. Most of them are audio player + equalizer. The top one is for OS I'm assuming but only 32bit.

Hey, I have the Realtek driver 6.0.1.5915
The link you sent me doesn't let me download the driver.
And when I get to the enhancement tab, it does not let me customize the EQ, I can only choose from a list of presets.

I just downloaded the new driver from Realtek, but now EQ doesn't appear under the Enhancement tab.

I just downloaded version R2.47 and installed it on top of the old driver that I had, I think it was v2.44. I grabbed the first link displayed, the ZIP one (3 mirrors to the right side of the screen ... it says GO ). Then just extract them to a folder and run Setup (3 subfolders) and it'll ask you to reboot. Try it again if it doesn't work for you then you probably have an ATI HDMI port on your laptop and all I can think of is the link at the bottom of the list that says ATI HDMI Audio Driver version 2.42 and it probably doesn't have a User Defined or EQ option yet. I installed the latest driver on two laptops: one with intel GL960/GM965 video and the other with the hybrid nvidia 9300m gs/intel 4 series with HDMI and they both show up the EQ and they work just fine.

I downloaded that version and installed it yesterday. After installing it, the EQ option under Enhancements is completely gone, and my mic stopped working.

Quick search for your laptop specs said you have an ATI HDMI port. So you most likely installed the wrong audio driver. Look for the ATI HDMI audio driver. I don't have an ATI graphics chip/card laptop sorry. You can always consider AC3Filter as a 2nd option. I use the EQ from the Realtek audio driver and AC3Filter at the same time. Just the EQ from the audio driver doesn't cut it for me anymore... I need the AC3Filter, and I pass it thru a 5.1 surround system that has it's own EQ.

Nope, and with good reason. To do this, the application would need to somehow wedge itself between the audio application and the audio driver. While technically that is possible, it is fraught with all sorts of potential compatibility issues.

Are there applications that I can use to set the EQ for specific programs? For examples, I don't want gunshots in games to pierce my ears, but I don't want to muffle out the high notes and rings from my music software.
