So a site I was going to (for the record, NOT an adult site, unless you consider Jeeps to be adult material) forwarded me to a website clearly meant to make you think you have ransomware (but it's really just a nasty site with popup that won't go away). I can force-quit out of Edge with task manager, but whenever I re-open it, it goes back to the previous sites. Even when the machine is disconnected from any internet connection and rebooted the machine, I find myself back here again. I cannot seem to get rid of this open tab that's screwing everything up. Any ideas?

Other people who have had similar issues online have found that going into airplane mode and re-opening Edge helps, but it's not solving the problem here; the website is still present.

Very nice. Good job Microsoft, good job.
Sorry you had to experience this Mitlov, I hope you get it sorted out. I'd like to see what MS has to say about it.Mitlov and Starlight5 like this. -
It's not actually malware; my machine is clean and it looks like several other people online have had the same experience and also had no malware on their machine. Ironically, Microsoft on all their tech help/customer service pages keeps telling people to just use Windows Defender to check for malware.
The solution that I found that actually worked is:
(1) use another browser to save an .html file to the desktop.
(2) right-click on that .html file and say "open with Edge." (Note: since Edge is also a pdf viewer, you can skip step 1 and just right-click on any pdf and say "open with Edge".
(3) Since the webpage with the aggressive pop-up is no longer the active page, you can close its tab.
That said, my personal opinion is that if Win10 knows that the last time you were in Edge you force-quit the program via Task Manager, it should ASK you whether you want to reload those pages or not, instead of just sending you straight to them regardless. -
Another thing for them to get right with Edge.
