Greetings,
Since windows 8.1, the Elan touchpad on my samsung series 9 ultrabook didn't work properly anymore. Every time I restarded my pc, my custom settings would revert to default. So the triple swipe, quadruple swipe, and other would be unchecked. When I saw there was a new driver I was relieved, thinking it would have fixed the problem. So I've downloaded the 153 mb long patch (version 11.7.18.2), and restarded. When I looked back at my Elan settings, ALL options were gone! It's just default settings! No 3-point scrolling, no 4-point scrolling, no middle mouse click with a double finger tap, no way to remove the smooth scrolling, and more!
What the heck, this isn't a patch... It's just muffling the problems away. Otherwise I could still change the settings, unless I restarted my pc, but now? Preposterous!
Anyone got some info on this? Maybe the same problem?

Why don't you head over to the Samsung forum, and read the Sticky thread there. In brief, the Samsung's are not ready to be upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I saw this in one of my newsfeeds about mouse problems in 8.1:
