Just a background, I am using Windows XP and I'm using custom themes. This thing doesn't always manifest -- in one custom theme, it happens while in another, it doesn't. I don't really know why.

So yeah. This doesn't always happen, but sometimes, when I use certain themes, my file names or folder names will be "cut down" or shortened by an ellipsis (three dots or "..."). I have observed this in file names/folder names that end in a word that is at least 10 characters long. Refer to my included images...

Take note again, this does NOT happen with ALL custom themes, just some, including the one I'm currently using.

Can someone help? This is getting irritating. As you can see from the screenshots, this is NOT normal. Because normally, when a file name is so long that it has to be shortened by an ellipsis, selecting the file would make it display the complete file name. As you can see from the shots, it DOESN'T even display the full folder name! (although you can see the details from the sidebar but that's not the point)

    Please help. Thank you! :)

This is something you have to see the skin software that you use.

I get the same thing in Win7 , I think it is normal so the file name does not cover over the icon/button below it.

It looks like its because the font the theme uses is too large for the line, although its easily changeable from where you can select what style to use.

I don't use skinning software. It's a "custom" theme but it's something that does not require extra software. It's just a theme/visual style that I select under 'Appearance' in Display Properties. This is possible in XP with a patched uxtheme.dll

Yes, thank you, I believe it was the font as well. I just changed fonts and sizes using Styler and voila, back to normal names. Thank you! :)
