I am new to divx encoding so I was wondering how long it usually take to encode dvd files to an avi file.

I select maximum quality and it takes 4 hours to perform pass 1 and another 3 hours to perform pass 2. I still haven't tried using the 1 pass option, maybe it is faster.

So I was wondering if the above times are too long considering my hardware specs (in my signature) or if I have to do something to speed up to the process.
