I bought a Sony Vaio FE 90 in Japan. It has Japanese Vista pre-installed.I want to install English Windows XP ? Will the drivers for same US model work for my model ?
-
At least, they should. No one will kill you for trying.

Logically speaking, I think it will work. I don't see why not it won't. But the thing is that will you be able to find XP drivers off of Sony's website? I can't seem to find any =/. I would try Vista drivers and see how they turn out.

Yes, I know they should logically work. But SONY names the same model by diff model names like if it is FE 92s here in Japan, the same model is FE890 in US.And I have heard that when you try to install a US-Sony driver, it will throw error saying this driver is not meant for your model no.
I just wanted to if anyone has done the same thing and succeeded. -
If you get an error like that then try installing Japanese drivers. I once did that on a Japanese Toshiba model with English XP, it worked. I'm also in Japan using English XP / Vista, so far I have tried several devices on my notebook like printers, scanners, WiFi adapters etc, all worked with bundled Japanese drivers. Every time I only installed the driver, didn't install any support applications like Printer monitor software, WiFi managers etc.. Just the driver.
English drivers for SONY Vaio FE 90 bought in Japan
