So I've sold the laptop and supposed to be shipping it out today so have been backing up my data and such stuff.

Last thing to do is get rid of the partition. It's a 320GB drive that is partition so it had 60GB for the OS & progs and the rest for games and such. So I use Easus Partition manager to delete the Games partition and enlarge the OS partition over it, so I end up with just the one partition. During the process the Games partition was deleted as normal but this error message was shown when it started to enlarge the OS partition:

I'm going to continue trying to sort this out while waiting for replies.

    Halp!

maybe just delete both partitions....then let the new owner create his own...anything he is installing will have its own partition creation utility--no need to pre-create one for him with Easus

On the other hand, if you want to provide the new owner with an existing installation, the simplest method might be to clone the existing OS partition off to an external drive, completely format the internal drive, thereby wiping everything off of it, then create a single new partition on the formatted drive and then clone the image of the original OS partition back onto that single partition. As far as I remember, the fact that the new partition is a different size than the original cloned partition doesn't matter to software such as Acronis True Image Home.

Ok, I fixed the partition problem, now my Samsung Recovery Solution won't work, waaa.

The recovery partition is still there. What's the best way to just clean install so none of my data is left on the HDD.

Nuke the entire drive, using something like DBAN (there are a number of disk-wiping utilities listed in the Free Windows Software stickie at the top of the forum).
