0xC00D116A: Cannot play DVD video
It says that it doesn't have a dvd decoder. Should that be on the nero disk that came with my z81?
-
You need to install your dvd decoder. I'm not sure if that would be Nero or some other program since each manufacturer uses different software.
Nero does have a DVD decoder. Cyberlink PowerDVD is another one, and there are several free decoders on the web.

VideoLan being one free one. It is what I use.

It's really wierd cause i installed everything on the nero disk that came with my computer.
I'll try reinstalling it tomorrow but right now i gotta pass out. up until 4:00 am this morning finishing my last midterm paper. -
Go to google.com and search for it. I found one website that might help, not too sure.

it says to reinstall the decoder or video drivers, does anybody know which parts of nero would contain the decoder?
Nero OEM
Nero Vision Express 2 SE
Nero Media Player
InCD 4
InCD reader

I reinstalled the first three parts, and that didn't do anything. I' have to go to class now but i'll have time to do the last three when i get back. If that doesn't work then I'm gonna have to download the omega drivers again, which i'm kinda hopeing i can avoid. -
Don't know for a fact, but it should be associated with the 'Media Player'.
You haven't installed any codec 'packs' per chance....

just for kicks, have you tried using another dvd to see if the same problem exists?
what are you using to view the dvd? -
Are you guys sure Nero has a DEcoder? I'm thinking it may only have an encoder...
z81? That's the Asus, right? My Asus came with ASUS DVD (I think it's a re-branded PowerDVD). Anyway, that's on a seperate disk. Try installing that. -
I think you're on to something....
Looks like Nero's 'Showtime' is their DVD player. Dunno....

ha ha ha, me feels stupid.
AsusDVD was hiding in a package with 2 other disks that i never bothered opening after i reformatted my harddrive. Special thanks imchajluk, i woulda never looked for it had u not said something (thanks everyone else for wasting ur time on this). -
No problem. Glad to help.
As for Nero Showtime, I think that's still 'media player' software, not specifically DVD player software. It'll play most video files, even MP4, but I don't think it has the codecs itself for DVD playback. Just like WMP, you need to install a DVD Player app, and then it'll use the codecs.
