I'm getting this error whenever I log into windows:

"The Power Control [2009/01/05 19:12:35] service failed to start due to the following error:
The system cannot find the file specified."

    Several Questions:
What's the Power control service? I tried googling it but couldnt find much info.

What's the time thing in the brackets? It's definitely not the time of the error because this one was taken this morning.

How do i fix it :(

Coming off from standby or hibernation? Review your device properties for being turned off to save power?

    cheers ...

I don't know, but it should be listed in the Services. Also, I think you are saying this is an error prompt. Are there any events in the event log that match?

As the message says it cannot find a file, have you uninstalled something recently? Maybe a power or battery management program? Or CPU management? And if it is happening during logon, then one of the startup inspection programs might show what it. CCleaner has a section that shows this.

    Could it be GMT?

it is not a service that shows up in the Services window, anyways, I am going to reinstall vista soon, so I guess it doesn't matter...

edit: And it seems the time in the brackets is the time the service stopped working, because I have this error show up every day after that particular date.
