Dear all,
I am seeing this error recently..

I tried google, but couldn't get much info or a lead towards a fix.. Can someone please shed more light on this and about how to fix it?
Thanks a lot and Cheers.

Also, I have another question (though not related probably):
The scheduled disk defragmentation (windows) is turned off.. still I see the defrag being run on the OS partition, C: regularly..
How come? -
Do you have any partitioning, imaging or virtual drive programs installed?
Go to your device manager and look for these and try updating the drivers
-
Thanks Flipfire.
But no, I don't have any virtual drive programs and such..
Also, in the device manager I cannot find that particular entry.
Btw, if it is of any relevance, few days back I was trying out VMware real player, but then I uninstalled it!!!! -
I see. Try run a registry cleaner, might just be a dead entry.
As for your defrag question, how do you know its running? -
Hey Flipfire,
First, sorry for the delayed reply - we lost the internet connection in our institute yesterday and we just got it back now.
Anyway, I will try the reg cleaner and get back.
As for the defrag, in the event viewer / task scheduler, I see the "last run..." entry with the date and time, and that it was successful :-|
Anyway, now I set the scheduled defrag to a weekly schedule, then disabled it just to see if it was some error there.
Also, when i was trying to delete the scheduled defrag entry, I got a message saying that the schedule was fixed by some other program and I'd have to terminate it - I don't know what program it was.
Anyway, I made a new schedule > disabled it and restarted the comp. Let me see what happens with that.
Thanks again. -
Update:
From google, I saw a few posts with the sptd error being related to daemon tools and such... I remember playing around with daemon tools but that was long back (around a year or so).. but I have uninstalled it since and I've used it either...
Just to let you all know.
Thanks and cheers. -
Would it be right to either try reinstalling daemon tools / spybot s&d and uninstalling them (if these errors are due to those programs as I have seen on some forums through google)? I'm asking because I did use those programs before but I have uninstalled them...
Or in some places, I have seen suggestions of a repair using the Win 7 DVD. Would that be good to try?
Thanks a lot.
Cheers. -
Update
Flipfire - I did the reg cleaner but the error persists.
I have been on google too, but just not able to pin-point the problem.. ufffff.. what an annoyance.
Anyway, I'm still looking around and waiting for a fix..
Thanks and cheers. -
Hi,
if you want to get rid of the SPTD driver, look here: DuplexSecure - FAQ They have tools and instructions for that job.
Michael -
But how do I find out which program installed / uses this SPTD driver?
And why isn't it loading properly during system start-up? Would it be sufficient to reinstall / update the driver (and I don't know how) in case the program (whichever it is) that installed it, needs this driver, to function properly?
Thanks again and cheers.
PS., btw, no one has any idea on what the "Uimbus" and "Uim_IM" issues are? -
Update:
http://www.google.com/#hl=en&expIds...s+7+Uimbus&gs_rfai=&pbx=1&fp=2304850557947867
I see that "Uimbus" and "Uim_IM" could be something to do with Paragon Software (though I don't remember exactly if I was playing around with this software!!!)... Look's like there is some "Uimbus.sys" driver or whatever and that isn't loading properly (though I have no more idea about what they do and what they are for, and such).
Does anyone know more about this? and is it safe to find the entries and delete them? or how do I go about removing these?
Thanks a lot and cheers.
PS., I couldn't edit my previous post - hence the new post.
Update 2:
Looks like they belong to some "paragon image mounter", which I don't have or never used before (though I don't remember if I was trying it out some time back, just out of curiosity on the software). Would it be safe to remove them? -
Alright here: http://img836.imageshack.us/img836/643/captureqy.jpg
I saw these two in C > windows > system32 > drivers and they are signed by paragon. Since I don't use Paragon, can someone confirm to be if it would be safe to remove them (either just delete them or is there a specific way to remove them?).
As for SPTD driver, I was looking at the info provided by Michael and I located that driver too... created on 17 November 2009 and signed by Duplex secure.. I have no idea what this is... guess I'll try removing them, first through that regedit dword change step or simple uninstall them (though I am not sure about uninstalling, because I don't know which program installed it in the first place)... Uffff...
Just waiting for some confirming and assuring word from the pro's..Thanks a lot people.. cheers..
-
Update:
Following michael's tip, Changing the dword in registry entry for SPTD, and setting it to be disabled removed that error during boot (though I don't know if there was any program that was using this driver.. and in any case, since I had no problems with any programs or softwares, and since this driver was not loading during startup, I assume this driver was not being used by anything.. I guess I'll wait for a few days and then may be try uninstalling it completely as mentioned in that page...
For the other two, I don't know.. there was a post I saw in some other forum, where it was suggested to try renaming it to something like Uimbus.bak or Uim_IM.bak and see what happens...
Guess I'll try that.. -
Update:
Renaming the files as Uimbus.bak or Uim_IM.bak did not get rid of that error!
The same event error (id) still appears..
Does this mean, there is something in the system that keep' looking for these drivers??
I'd be happy if anyone can please shed more light on this and how to get rid of this error.
Thanks a lot in advance and cheers
Event viewer error 7026 - any idea what this is?
