    Hi Guys,
I just found out that every folder in my PC (Win7) is on "read only". Changing it from the folder´s properties does not have any effect (they are stuck on it). I have no issues when changing the files, but I can´t run sync software such as the Briefcase.
I read MS has no solution for this (although it comes from Win XP, and have only been solved in pirated versions of that OS).
There is a workaround by changing the attributes from the CMD, folder by folder, but that´s not an option for me since I have more than 1000 folders.
Any generic workaround for this shameful Windows issue?
    Thanks.

That's normal to see all folders have the 'Read Only' attribute set. So you must have other issues with Briefcase that need to be resolved. Try to go to the maker of Briefcase software and see if they have help for you.

the very popular "take ownership" widget will do it, but its sorta like a shotgun approach. what changed? something you installed monkeyed with UAC or your permissions/policies.
obvious question: have you checked for recent malwares like chameleon-class?
have you looked at the windows Error logs for "System" and for "Application" errors, and what does it tell you? is your main account your ONLY user account on the os?

EDIT: I should have prefaced all that: as the other replyer said, "Read Only" is no problemo. that's normal. the fact that something that is permissions-dependent fails is abnormal and I'm ASSUMING that is the case, and you should have a string of errors
