I am looking for some piece of software that can basically allow me to enter in expenses and have it give me the amount of money spent/remaining..... just a basic tool so I can simply enter in information and it will do the subtraction for me....

Right now I am using a notepad... well, I am not using it that often..lol. Which is why I am hoping a piece of software will help me get better at keeping track of where I spend my money.

    Thanks guys!

Create a formula with Microsoft Excel. Should be simple enough...

Last time I ran Excel was in HS, been busy dealing with biology/chemistry and the human body for the past 4 years so.... to say I am a little rusty around Excel would be an understatement.

I actually tried to use Excel before I made this thread, I gave up (admittedly a half-*** attempt) and came here to see if there was an automated piece of software...

Yeah, spambots often post incorrect information ;)

You might want to install (free, if you don't have MS Office) Open Office, as that has a spreadsheet program in it. You might also want to look through some of these programs and try them: http://www.newfreedownloads.com/find/expenses.html (Home Bookkeeping looks like it might be handy, but I have not tried any)

I do recommend learning how to use Excel/a spreadsheet program, as it's very useful and will be a skill that you will use in the future for a lot of other things (job, etc).

Gregory! THANKS! That is beyond perfect! With the added boost of it being in Excel no less! I don't know why, but using Excel makes me feel powerful!. :p

    Thank you.
