    Hi,

Have just installed a 128GB SSD m.2 drive into my Lenovo e540 and am running one partition as Win7 boot drive.
I'd like to know whether its possible to run ExpressCache on a smaller partition on this disk. I have plenty of space on the boot partition for the OS and a full build.
I would really like to be able to do this, to make use of some of the free space on the SSD and cache my frequently used there dynamically. Hope this is possible.
Have installed ExpressCache but been unable to configure it to work with the partition already created. I get "HFS unmounted" and "0x18" errors.

    Any thoughts gratefully welcomed.

    Many thanks,
    N*

There is really no advantage of using ExpressCache when you already use an SSD as a primary drive.

    Thanks for for your reply.
Do you know how it can be done.
I think there will.be an advantage given that my files are on a spinner. Does ExpressCache not cache frequently used docs as well as sys files?

    Cheers

Yes, ExpressCache caches frequently used files. However, since both the original files and the cached files are on the same-speed SSD, there will be no difference in performance. If you use an HDD as a primary drive and an SSD as a cache drive, then there will be a performance improvement and that is what ExpressCache is intended for.

If your concern is boosting performance, you should consider adding more RAM at this point. If your concern is utilizing your SSD fully, well...I guess you've done enough by having it as your primary drive.

By the way, I don't know the answer to your specific question.

It seems the answer is Primocache. At least on paper. Am trialling it now. But for the mo. RIP ExpressCache you such ;-)

True. However if the documents are on a spinner then there's no speed advantage unless they're cached separately. Basically after loading the software the ssd lies idle.

I want to get max usage out of the m.2 bus. Since its fast and gives additional bandwidth alongside the RAM. which has been upgraded.
