Is there an extension for Chrome that allows the user to download a video he is watching directly as an MP3 without having to go to other sites to convert it there?

Basically what the user wants is to extract the audio directly from the video in a downloadable format

Another option is if they have stereo mix in recording devices but this is not an automated way of doing it.

mp3 is an audio format. It's not a video format. But there are programs that will extract the audio from a video and create a mp3 audio file. No extensions to do this automatically that I know of.

You can also use the VLC media player to convert files, if you don't like online solutions.
