I have a large hard drive from a previous laptop, which I loaded into my enclosure and connected to my current laptop. Everything works fine. Almost.

Only problem that I can't seem to resolve is I am unable to access the user folders (Users -> Administrator or similar). Windows simply tells me I don't "currently have permission to access this folder". Anyone familiar with how this works? The only option I see within windows which I could try is to change permissions manually.. but a recursive sweep on an external would take a fair amount of time.

Assuming the files were not encypted, right click the folder, choose PROPERTIES, the SECURITY tab, choose the ADVANCED button, choose the OWNER tab, choose the EDIT tab, select your current account, check the box that says REPLACE OWNER ON SUBCONTAINTERS....go get a beer. Come back in a half hour.
