I have a dell laptop that has 1920x1080 resolution. However, i connect it to an external monitor that has 1920x1200 resolution. Basically almost everything i do is on my external monitor which acts as my main primary screen. Thus i do sometimes open some windows or drag a window or so to the other screen like youtube etc to the laptop screen.

My issue at the moment is everything is way too big on the laptop screen. I want to have 1920x1080 resolution but its way too big. I googled what is my resolution on it and it shows 1536 x 864. Can someone tell me how to change this to 1920x1080?

My external monitor which is my main monitor is fine at the moment with the 1920x1200. Also i use windows 10 in this new computer but this probably is the similar to windows 7 settings? Thanks.

Since no hardware specs for the laptop and ext display is given how would you expect someone to know what to expect or respond? Windows 10 did mention about monitor adapting resolution so did you look at MS support about resolution differences as well? But like anything leaving out hardware specs gives those reading no background to start from and go no where fast.

I looked at the resolution on it. I usually would do some trial and error and this would solve the issue.

    Dell xps 15 9550

    nvidia geforce960m

    1920 x 1080 resolution

My monitor is asus 24' that uses 1920 x 1200 resolution

    I had put extended display...

On the main laptop screen is the system scaling the text at say 125%?
