I have a laptop, 16:9 ratio. I have a monitor, 4:3 ratio. When I plug in the monitor to my laptop, I cannot put icons on the bottom row of my desktop of my default laptop screen. I can right-click there though. Any way I can put icons on the bottom row of the laptop screen's desktop?

    Laptop monitor: 1366x768
    External: 1280x1024

No matter what resolution I try on the external, I cannot put icons at the bottom row of my laptop's desktop screen.
