hello all...nice looking forum...i have a toshiba U205-S5002...i've had it about a year and a half now...it's about time for a format and i don't want to use the option in the recovery CD to Install the original default condition...i don't want all the junk and trial software that is included with that option...any ideas on how to build an XP disc from the files located in the recovery CD...there is an ISO file on the recovery CD...i have checked it out with win-ace...but it is only 95mb...it seems like it would be the OS with the files contained in the ISO...but the small size doesn't add up...
here are screenshots of the recovery CD and the files that are in the ISO

How old is the laptop?

bought it around October 2006...O.S. is XP Pro...Intel Centrino Duo Core...1 gig ram...as you can see from the title post...i just want to make an XP boot disc from the recovery CD...the files are there...i just need to know how to put it together...i'm sure you can understand why i don't want to re-install all the crap trial software...especially that ungodly McAfee crap...the ISO seems to have everything i need...all of the system 32 files...but so far i've not been able to successfully been able to create a working boot disc.

I don't know the best place to get it from, but could you not download an XP disc requiring a key like the one in the link? I assume it would work?

well haven't had a chance to try em yet...today i made three boot discs...one a legit oem copy of xp pro with the bin and 1386 folders from the laptop recovery disc...another with all the extra installer files from the recovery disc along with the oem disc...and one of a *cough* corporate copy of xp pro with the toshiba bin and 1386 folders...they will all boot...guess i'll just have to see which one works with the activation key on the bottom of my laptop....

If you download nLite, it should be able to make the CD for you as long as you have the C:\I386 folder available on your computer.
