What is the best face recognition software outthere?

I have been looking to find out what is available and good to use with Vista. It will be mainly just for login purposes on my laptop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone with a somewhat decent foto of your face can fool current 'face recognition' consumer software.
Unless for sheer hobbyism, it's not worth putting much time in imao.
At least, not for security purposes.

Try get a hold of lenovo veriface modded software. It's pretty good. Also, a decent 12megapixle full color print out won't fool anyone if you set the settings high enough.

How long does it take to get recognized with those high settings when you've just woken up and have a wrinkly face? ;)
And have you tried twisting the photo a bit in front of the webcam?

I usually use the standard settings. It takes about half a second to recognize me after the face detection window opens up. It almost never fails.

But seriously, you don't have to worry about people using a photo of you to log in. The default settings will recognize the difference between photo and face. If one really want to get into your computer, windows password will just be as easily "hackable" as face detection.

one thing i hate about fingerprints, facerecognition, etc is, it's no replacement for a password. it's a replacement for the user name.

a password proves it's me, and i want in, and i know how to get in, and everything. it's a verification of my will.
a user account name, a finger print, a face, only shows who i am.

in more technical terms, the user name/finger print/face is the public key. the password is the private key.

oh, and i once got locked out of my fingerprint software as it somehow crashed. and i couldn't even log on with my password, then, as the policies knew i need the fingerprint. that was about an hour before a bigger gig. quickly-to-the-safe-mode, quickly-uninstall-that-app, and-pray-that-you-can-logon-afterwards... :)

Thanks for all the replies. :)

I am looking for this software feature just for personal home laptop it is not going to be used for buisness.

I have seen a lot of talk about lenovo veriface and also suggested here by Jack. I have seen quite a few good reviews on this software and it seems to look good. Only problem is i have been unable to find the lenovo veriface modded software after a lot of searching. I have found the normal one but so many people say it will only work with the lenovo laptops.

Any advice on finding the modded software?
