Face Recognition login software for Windows 7??

Anyone know any good programmes for this? i'm on Windows 7 on an Asus laptop.

I used to use Lenovo Veriface when I had my other HP with the webcam.

 

First, where did you get this software? and second, How did you manage to install it and made it work? I'm interested in applying this into my HP.

 

I've never heard of many face recognition software programs before, just the one that came with my alienware...try googling around?

 

It's a simple driver from Lenovo. I knew about it because I have an IBM and I saw it on the driver page.

From what I understand, if you try it in Windows XP it will give you an error about your computer not being an IBM. Windows Vista and 7 should work (I tried it on Vista and had no problems).

 

Asus has a facial recognition something or other on some of their laptops. Try finding out what that is.

 

Well, I got the Veriface app running in my Acer Aspire One without a hitch...pretty cool app.

I will go now to install on my DV7 and see what happens...in due case something happens with the facial (actually eye) recognition, reboot in safe mode and uninstall.

 

Hmm, too bad, this is only for 32bit Windows...

 

Asus' is called SmartLogon Manager.

Scroll down to under software to where it says "Veriface", and it will give you the software for Windows 7 32-bit/64-bit and Windows Vista 32-bit

 

I have an Asus U81-a and SmartLogon worked fine here with windows 7........

 

think i`ll give this ago on my acer see if it works

 

fyi these softwares are horrible means of security as they can all be easily fooled using just a photograph or something similar (at least all the ones ive tried can be). but they are fun to play with. so i suggest just using it to play with not as a means of security.

the only one i can think of off the top of my head would be one called bananascreen

EDIT: i just remembered another called keylemon. this one has a few intriguing features.

You know e problem with this stuff is even if you get it working, somine just needs a picture of you to login to your computer. I've tried it before. Not very effective IMHO. Just an FYI. At least with the alienware. Just hold a picture of the person who owns the computer in front of the webcam and your in

 

Point taken...this is not the most secure way to protect ur pc, but is fun to use. I already tried installing in my DV7 and it did not work...I guess is b/c my W7 is x64.

 

it's never secure to use a PUBLIC feature as verification. like your face, your fingerprint, or your username.

thats why secured systems have passwords fitting your username. a public/private pair that matches.

but as most don't use a password, for them, it doesn't matter.

replacing a password with face recognition, though, that's a security loss.

 

Well one of the things I like about the veriface software is that it will keep a log of the login attempts. For me, I don't use a password on my desktop, but if something is changed it's kind of nice to look through the log and see who accessed it

 

Dell uses FastAccess Facial Recognition, but I don't think it's available in single licenses.

It's nice because if you move out of the webcam's view, it automatically locks the computer. And it does web logins, too, so no need to remember those (FF support is still coming).
