Something about facebook seems to break tabs in chrome, I have noticed this for over 2 years now, I really only noticed it on my laptop as well as my girls (I don't use other people's pc's to access facebook...)

Is there a specific reason for this? Is it Chrome itself? I have just dealt with it all this time, honestly it's probably been happening a lot longer than 2 years. I do have firefox and opera installed as backup browsers, but I just choose to use chrome mainly since it's what I know and all my bookmarks etc are synced....

Sometimes facebook just hangs for a few seconds, sometimes it locks up completely, NOTHING can be done, no links clicked, the back button does nothing, its like the whole tab is broke. I can't even reload facebook, it just hangs on "loading" like my internet is down. Sometimes it sorts itself out in 1-6 seconds, sometimes I'll let it be 30 seconds before I rage quit the tab and load a new tab with FB.

While this is going on, I can switch to any other tab, and whatever is going on in that tab run 100% perfect. No other websites do this, ONLY facebook. It's like facebook is its own app inside chrome and somehow breaks itself constantly. Only on facebook tabs. It acts like a computer that has serious lag problems due to malware, insufficient memory/processor speed, or whatever reason.

My Lenovo laptop is more than capable of surfing facebook, I daily drive windows 7 ultimate x64, core I7 2670qm 16gB ram, 256gB ssd, my T420 could handle 400 tabs without breaking a sweat (technically speaking I guess it does break a sweat, this i7 spits fire lol)
My girls laptop is nothing special, quad core amd toshiba we picked up cheap when her last laptop failed. Windows 10, 6gB memory, more than enough for internet browsing!

Try installing Adblock Plus, go to its options then unchecked allow some non intrusive advertising then Google Adblock plus Facebook annoyances and add the filter to block all annoyances on the far left then try again

Unless you try on different Browsers doing the same process that is the only way you can identify what is going on if it is Site issues or Browser issues. Then you can know what is going on and not until then we have is a guess game.
