I assume most of you use it since its the in-thing these days..
but technically its a Crappy website..
it is very laggy even on Firefox.
I did the troubleshooting and my comp and NoScript settings are fine.
Maybe i am a cursed user.
coz according to others this site opens easily on their comp..
but for me...even on my 3 mbps ...
it takes 3-5 mins to login & then 2 mins to open inbox,
3 mins to open network page
what could be wrong?
Most of the messages i send dont even get Posted
and next day i feel like a Fool for wasting my time.
Any help to Troubleshoot the problem?

Works perfect for me on FF, no lag.
Some of my friends say it doesnt load peoperly on FF for some reason
Have you tried a different broswer -
Works fine for me on FF either.
Don't make a conclusion when you don't have enough data to support your claim. -
I'm more apt to believe it is a browser cache issue or something. I always recommend people run ccleaner of at least clear out internet settings every couple of weeks (or once a month) http://www.ccleaner.com/
If that doesn't help, it could be possiblle that your browser is just bugged. Or maybe you are too far from the servers? -
Works fine here on FF...
-
For me it just won't load fairly frequently. I get a few minutes of downtime, and then it works again at normal speed. I'm not sure what's up, but there is something a bit fishy about the site... Then again, it could just be their popularity straining the servers, I guess.

Great thread. Real. Great. Thread.

Even better post.
I don't have a facebook, but my cousin does and it works fine for her. -
Facebook works perfectly with IE7.
-
facebook does indeed get a little laggy at times, but works fine once logged in. but lately NBR has been lagging a lot.
-
I'm getting lag in some of the Facebook apps, but it's otherwise fine for me.
-
So your saying that it's a crappy site because something your doing is wrong?
-
struggles to even load since i put ff3 beta 5 on my laptop.
so use ie tab and it works but not as snappy as it used to. -
facebook is like uber fast for me.
-
For a week or so Facebook would not load at all for a few minutes and then work fine for a few, then not load, etc. However, for the past couple days it has been fine for me.
Running FF3B5. -
Facebook seems kind of slow to me. It times out a lot. But the site isn't too bad.

There's a NBR group on there...
-
Facebook is working fine for me. Right now the only website that's giving me trouble is gmail with the Error 102 stuff, but they're working on that.
-
Not many members though...
-
So lets Johnny .. lets go there and fill it up..
Btw Facebook is the only site which Opens too slow or doesnt even open on Firefox.
I think its a Firefox FB problem...
or maybe since i am in Singapore... the server is too Far?
or maybe their servers are too Weak ?
coz Coll peeps upload Gigabytes of Photos every hour. -
Hmmm i am Amused..
Facebook doesnt load and this message shows up... looks FISHY!
"<!--[if gte IE 7"
what in the world does that mean? -
zomg were being h4xx!1!!one!

Facebook works fine for me....
-
Facebook is usually slow compared to other sites for me too. It may be because they have high traffic or because they need better servers!
-
seems like i was rite.. it IS slow..
check this article:
Facebook is slow, but theres an easy fix
It seems like the Facebook engineers add another javascript and css file to their pages with every new feature. As of today, viewing the Facebook homepage loads 36 javascript files from Facebook and 4 more from advertisers. In addition to these 40 files, there are 12 css files.
Thats a lot of files! If youve ever noticed the excessive flickering happening in your browsers status bar when you go to Facebook, this is the cause.
How can they improve the situation? The total file size isnt too terrible at about 100k of JS and 40k of CSS. The best thing to do would be to use a simple build script that concatenates all these files together into one larger file. If they cant do that for some reason, they could at least serve the files from more than one domain to take advantage of parallel downloads in the browser. They could also try a service like Akamai, but thats a bit more complex and expensive.
This seems like a really silly oversight from an organization that in general produces beautiful work. My guess is that when the company was getting started they set up a relatively simple build process that has now become ingrained and difficult to alter as their setup has quickly become larger and more distributed. However, theyve reached the point where its time to revisit things and do it properly.
