I just bought a used Samsung ATIV Book 7 Win 8 laptop so tried factory resetting doing the standard way through PC settings. Get error and won't work.
Is there anything I can do to do a factory reset?
Thanks.

have you got the operating system disc and also the drivers disc?
on any second hand laptop i would recommend nuking the drive with DBAN DBAN Download | Darik's Boot And Nuke
which will totally overwrite everything thats on the drive as you never know whats been left on there which could be potentially nasty like key grabbers etc.
burn dban to disc, open drive draw and put disc in,turn off, close draw and reboot and let dariks dban do its job.
always better to be safe than sorry later.

I don't have the disc or drivers.
If I upgrade through windows store to 8.1, will that be pretty much a clean install (clean enough anyway that I don't have to worry about possible nasties)?
Thanks. -
