    Hello guys
Did anybody experienced same problem ?
Previously I had Win 8 and when I reading only on internet all fans stopped
I have upgraded to Win 8.1 and right fan constantly spins .. not noisy but still spins when I only browsing and reading on internet..
Can anybody explain what win 8.1 contains more than win 8 ?
    Thank you

I just reverted even further to Win 8 and right fan stops spinning ..
so in my little home office is nice n quiet :)
I really have no idea what causing fan constantly spinning in 8.1 ?

You had come from W10, since the drivers are about the same where you then also having the fan issue as well?

I always do clean installs I format SSD all the time when installing windows 8.
Cannot do clean install for win 8.1 only upgrade
I have changed and used drivers in win 8.1 from acer website which are under win 8 section so for win 8 and fan didn't stop..There are now 3 sections; 1.drivers for win 8 2.for win 8.1 and 3.win 10
I have looked on google searched and many ppl confirmed same problem..
There are more services and apps ruining in background than in win 8.

there may be but little CPU usage here. So the question still begs to be answered. When running Windows 10 did the fan run all the time as well? The thing being while those services under Win 8.1 or Win10 may be there residing in memory they really should not be using much CPU resource.

That's I don't remember on 100% if was still spinning .. probably was..
I reverted to 8.1 mainly from other reasons (those above I said..) And I realised fan noise in 8.1
Yeah it must be in memory as cpu shows 0%-1%-2%-3% usage

Do you have a GPU that could be also producing heat. Other than that, maybe some power options are different, Window s8 power profile on battery defaults to low fan noise settings at the expense of lower CPU clocks rather than keeping the clocks as they would be on AC power at the expense of heat. It has to be a software issue somewhere that is sending slightly different commands to the embedded controller as an OS change wouldn't change the fan behavior programmed in the EC.

no it has nothing to do with these things as I never change anything .. all is same all drivers same what I replace is just windows.. Maybe it is in windows updates it causes that or don't know something must be changed in win 8.1 /10
or just this ultrabook came with 8 originally so it is only designed for that..

Might still be worth checking it, I've seen system default vary slightly between installations and upgrades of Windows at times. Here's the setting I'm talking about. I've seen that one cause issues to someone else either on NBR or ArsTechnica.

One thing you could do if you want to delve further into it is monitor temperature, CPU activity and fan speed. HWiNFO might be able to read fan speeds for your laptop. Otherwise, you'd have to check for fan speeding up yourself and note when it starts/stops.

What laptop model do you have anyways?

Actually Windows 8.0 drivers are usually different from 8.1. If you do not understand this fundamental point though it may be hard to help you diagnose any issues.

It is not in there I've tried all those settings are not changed when you compare 8 with 8.1 ..
i am on 8 and i really can't be bothered installing 8.1 again..
actually right now am on battery and ultrabook is nice quiet so on passive.. fans stopped completely. but even if I am on AC fans are active but when I am reading on any website fans stops so even on AC is quiet but as long as I start doing anything fans spins up .. but on win 8.1 never stopped right one left one stopped but right one were keeping spinning..
I am not saying it was spinning like crazy noisy, it spins quietly but when is night like now and you reading it is disturbing ..

I said earlier above i solved my problem by reverting back to 8 .. really not interesting .. In first moments I noticed this issue and I solved it I completely understand it because I know it is 8.1 fault no any external's or third party drivers..

As I said, you do not understand it. I am just glad you are happy with your fallback.
