Nope, it can still improve speeds. And there's a modified version to work with FF3.

I assume you mean Fasterfox Lite since it's the only one I've found to be updated. It's suppose to work up to the beta version of FF 3.6 so it's pretty new.

Just wondering though - do you think it's worth using?

When I install FF 3.5 once it comes out, will it reset the about:config settings?

Never heard of FireTune, but am using FasterFox Lite. I do not recognize much noticeable difference though. So I am just installing to see how many seconds needed to load a page.

I stopped "tweaking" Firefox since 3.0 :) just felt that there is no further need for any of these super tools of the past.

Now only if all the add-ons get to work with every update :D

    cheers ...

I always do the pipelining stuff, but from hand. other than that, nothing.

the rest are usability tweaks (a.k.a. addons :))

Ya, I'm wondering if it's worth using these so-called speed boosts any more. I don't really notice much of a difference.

    Does Google Chrome use pipelining?

I was looking at my about:config page and I noticed a lot of useless things left over from past addons that I've since uninstalled. I would like a clean slate before I get FF3.5 but I don't want to lose the addons that I do use, plus I want my bookmarks.
    Any tips?

    Thanks

Back up your bookmarks. I recommend reinstalling add-ons anew after the clean installation.

    cheers ...

That sounds like a good idea. But how do I do a clean install? Do I need to uninstall it from Remove Programs? If I install a new version over it, it won't be clean right?

Ok, thank you very much qhn.
So now I'll have a fresh version of FF and when I get 3.5 on Tuesday, it will update the fresh install and still keep the addons and stuff I install after this clean install, correct? Or should I just wait until Tuesday and just uninstall FF3 and install a fresh copy of FF3.5?

Also, do you recommend I install FasterFox Lite on my fresh install or just try to stay clean and only install the necessary addons? I don't really see much of an improvement with pipelining so I guess I'm better off without it.

    Correct.

FasterFox lite would turn the pipelining on ;-)

I personally leave it (FasterFox Lite) off, and manually change the pipelining within about:config myself.

    cheers ...

OK, I unistalled FF3 and then installed a fresh copy of 3.5. Then I imported my bookmarks back and installed my favorite addons and everything seems to be working great. - FF3.5 definitely seems faster. So do you recommend that I manually enable pipelining? Is it worth it? And what about increasing the max connections?

    Thanks

Yes, I would manually turn the piplelining on. I leave max connections alone on my comps.

    cheers ...
