I have a bunch of important documents and files that i constantly use on my usb drive, but i would also like a copy of it each time i come back home on my computer. Is there a program where it can do the Sync instead of me having to copy file by file?

There are plenty of utilities that can synchronize files. If you Google for 'synchronize files' you'll find quite a few links that you can check.

Start by looking on the 'net and reading what each app can and cannot do, then see how much each one costs. Once you find a few you like, Google each name and see if there are any reviews.

I don't know why you need to sync your files. If I understand you correctly, your important files are kept on your USB drive and not on the laptop. If that's the case, what is there to synchronize? Do you have copies on your laptop, and you just want to make changes to the USB drive and have a software application copy everything all at once, instead of saving a copy to both locations after you make your changes?

It's just for redundancy for having two copies of everything and i can work on stuff at home.

The easiest way to do this is use Windows Briefcase. Create a briefcase on your desktop. Drag the files or folders you want to take home. Before you go home, take the briefcase and copy it onto your USB drive. This will copy the briefcase, along with the latest versions of the files to the USB drive. At home, right click the Briefcase and select sync. This is, of course, if you keep your files in the same folder layout for these files at home as you do at work.

If you use different folder layouts at home and work, you can use Vista's Synctoy. It is free and easy to use. Of course you have to run it manually, but that shouldn't be too big of a deal.

You basically set up a "Folder pair" between your folder of stuff and your USB drive. Sync the folder pair with the settings you want. Then on your home machine, do the same thing.
