Hey guys its been a while since I have had my financial life 100% organized, so here I am asking you guys. I used to use microsoft money 2004 and LOVED it, but with the demise of that product line in mid 2009 I feel that I shouldn't find a copy and use that again. I would love to have something that connects to my accounts so I do not need to enter every little receipt. I know I could just use my banks website and track things, but what I loved about MS money is that it had fancy graphs and budgeting all setup for me. What is your recommendation for a software like this for a home user?
Thanks

I still use a bunch of Excel templates. Then I learned to link them together and make my own charts.
It has helped shore up my Excel skills. -
Lol I do not have the time to make a spread sheet system nor would I want to. I did alot of that and macro stuff for my office a few years ago and I have to say I despise it. But thanks for the idea

Intuit Quicken is the biggest paid program... GNU Cash is a free alternative... and Mint is an online one. I haven't really used any of them.

All programs are going to feature a learning period. Might as well make the most of the learning period by learning some very versatile skills.

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been using MS Money for about 10 years and it worked great.
My online services expired last month and I've been running a script to automatically download quotes and I've been manually entering transactions.
I think our only option is Quicken. Evidently Quicken is releasing an update to their MS Money converter in a couple of weeks. I plan on taking the plunge then. -
I'll second mint.com. It's so easy and useful.

+1 for GnuCash. I've been using it and it works great.
Cheers... -
Well I bit the bullet and got quicken. Works great and I have everything setup right. The only issue I have had with it so far is the online updating system. Its not very accurate, it seems I have to re-categorize everything and the delay on updates is just plain too long. But that's all fixed with manual entries (I don't make too many purchases). Really stinks that the main feature I wanted doesn't work like I thought it would, but all in all its been less then a week and I already have improved my financial organization and situation. So far worth the money.
Finacial software.
