So, this program is the biggest and best app to edit and create movies or clips. So how good of a mac do you need to run this at its best? Will a macbook with 1gb ram, 100gb hdd 2ghz be good enough? WIll 2 gb ram be better? Or is a mac pro necessary for this app?

Also can you edit photos like photoshop in final cut?

I do not think you will be happy with Final Cut Studio's performance on a MacBook. Although I have heard many who say it runs fine, but I don't believe Apple officially supports it. Final Cut Express should run fairly well. Also, you do realize that Final Cut Express is $299 and Final Cut Studio (used to be Pro) is $1299. If you are not doing real serious video-editing I would give iMovie HD a shot first. I mean it is free, at least give it a shot before plopping down a minimum of $300 on something you may not need.

current version of Fnal Cut pro (although unsupported by Apple) will happily run on a Macbook provided you have enuf RAM...though u'd most probably be wanting to use it on a Macbook Pro tbh...if you're doing anything "serious" with video editing you need all the screen real estate you can get...but i agree with cashmonee in that you should give iMovie HD a shot first before taking the plunge into Final Cut pro...it's a dangerous program coz it expects the user to know what they're doing...
