[Thread] I'm still happy with Acronis Disk Director Suite until I bought this new laptop and switch to Windows 7 which Acronis doesn't support.
OR if any one can show me how to cut some free space from one partition (D) to another (E). I can not do that with disk management tool of Win 7 or diskpart console.![]()

I am sure that Acronis will update its software soon to fully support Windows 7. Why jump on the gun when the OS is still new?
For what you want to do, considering GPart Live CD?
cheers ... -
thanks, I'm having a look at Gpart,
the thing is I can't install sata and sound driver on XP, and I don't like vista too much, that's why I'm stuck with Windows 7
ps: Gpart is 99mb, which should take me 3 hours to download with the internet in my college -
No errors on install and the program opens and functions just as it does on my desktop XP pc. If you have a problem with it opening, you shouldn't, you might try right clicking the executable or short cut and set compatability mode to Vista Service Pack 2.
Did you actually try the software or just assume it wouldn't work on W7? Acronis indicates it is supported for Vista. Most software that is supported for Vista also runs on W7. If you tried it, what error messages did it give you?
Edit: To answer your question about replacement software though, try looking at the first sticky on this forum concerning free software: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=337890 you will find several. -
Yeah, unless you actually need tech support, don't worry about whether it's "supported" or not... just try it and see if it works. You may have to right-click and Run as Administrator. And there are also compatibility modes, as deeastman mentioned.
But alternatively, if you have 32-bit Windows 7, you can try the free partition managers from Easeus or Paragon. They are much easier to use than gparted, IMO. gparted should work too though.
Finding good replacement for Acronis Disk Director Suite!
