I recently installed Commodo firewall & completely removed Norton..& btw startup time really less now.

But now whenever open Firefox (my preferred browser) it says 'firefox is not the default browser , would you like to make it now' .. i click yes

Bigger problem is that It happens each time i open firefox...and all Internet related services are opening in IE7....

What could be triggering this problem? ..help me diagnose guys

Find 'Set Program Access and Defaults' and set your default Web Browser to Mozilla Firefox and disable access to IE.

I'm not sure if that will help though.

No, I don't think it is comodo... I have that installed on one of my personal computers and it does not do these types of things (far as I know... least never happened to me).

Arkit3kt might have nailed it... that is what I was thinking....

FF, Tools, Options...Uncheck "Always check to see if FF is your default browser" to get rid of the error.

I think it's a software config that retains your settings. What other software do you have?

I use Comodo & FF(as my default browser) & it works fine.
Download the Norton removal tool(it may help), then reinstall Firefox(uninstall it then install it again). Then go to Program access & defaults & set FF as your default browser.

Thanks....i reinstalled FF 2.0.0.11 ...problem FIXED.

The Diagnosed Cause of problem: I had done a parallel install of FF 2.0.0.11 & FF 3b2 .... I uninstalled FF3b2 recently (FF3b2 was default browser) so Vista thought that FF is GONE FOR GOOD from my system(Microsofts Perspective that FF sucks)....
Due to this..under the list of default Browsers the FF WASNT there at all..

    Reinstalled & problem FIXED.

    Au Revoir!

Uninstalling FF can be a major pain: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_Firefox

That's the only thing I don't like about FF. I couldn't uninstall it via Add/Remove; had to look for it in the Program Files directory, which was no big deal, but I'm sure the average computer user doesn't know anything about the program files directory.

That's mac user you are talking about. :p
I sincerely believe everyone who uses PC at one time or another will surely know about the program file directory!

Oh, of course they've "heard" about the program file directory. But would they know that a executable program titled "helper.exe" is actually the uninstallation setup for Fx?

It's a minor gripe; just looking out for the majority of PC users out there.

I mean, apparently the statistic is that out of 100% of Firefox downloaders, only 50% actually stay active users. Just stinks that the people who actually installed Fx wouldn't know how to fully erase it from their computer.
