I am not too worried about this. I normally surf the same sites so I should be safe.
However I hope they can get that fixed soon.

Don't worry it was a joke. From the Ars Technica article:

I accidentaly created a css code that completely messed up my computer. I was dealing with two different type of transparency codes, that worked on one browser, but created a complete mess on the other browser. Sounds kind of what was described. stack overflow. Of course, it was only temporary. I just had to unplug my computer to restart it. For half an hour though, it kept rendering the same page, and my mouse cursor could skip maybe once a minute. It did the same thing on my friend's computer too.

not really serious, but anyone know why the / key sometimes brings up the search bar in FF?
-
i guess it's just for convenience -
how is that convenient? I want to be able to type a / , and it won't let me, instead brings up the search bar.
-
well.. if its focused in a text box, or the url bar, or any kind of input area, it lets you type it... //////////////....... where else would you need to type it?
-
that is cool, did not realize that / and ' outside the input areas would bring up the "quick find" - like it
cheers ... -
I use it all the time. It is actually a feature like in vi, in which you can type the slash and start typing a word and it finds the next occurrence of it.
-
i have a huge problem with apostrophe being the shortcut to find. sometimes it happens in the middle of typing, and after that point, i can't use apostrophes anymore....and sometimes it it switches to spanish keyboard settings and starts putting accents over my vowels....
-
right - I'll be typing in a box (such as this quick reply box) and it won't let me type a /, just brings up the find box. Other times (like now) it works fine.
