I've been having several little irritating problems lately and this is one of them. If I switch my default browser to IE or Chrome the proper icon will show on html files. However, if I switch back to Firefox it retains the last default browser icon.

Properties all say open with Firefox. When a file is clicked even though it has a Chrome icon will open in Firefox.

Does the problem occur if you restart windows after setting FF to default?

I'll try with a new user....

With a guest account they show as IE icons (set as default) and with my account Chrome.

I changed the default in the guest account to FF and the IE icons remained.

So.. two accounts, one shows IE, one shows Chrome, both set to FF.

Thanks. I have a few projects going on right now and don't want to try anything so drastic since it's only cometic. Once they're finished I'll try that, or may just reinstall Windows.
