What's up? I'm on dial-up... and gmail won't load the standard UI... doesn't load by default... just loads the HTML... and loads the HTML if you click standard version from the HTML version... I think I might have had this happen at least one time before. Any advice?

Its casue of the dial up, thats what Gmail does with dial up. With standard UI it will often freeze with dial up... I should know I had dial up for over 8 months earlier this year

Yeah... but it didn't do that most of the time before... ah, Google!

Edit: Darn, this is stupid. I think I'll try browser restarts and cookie clearing. Oh well... and http://mail.google.com/mail?nocheckbrowser seems to freeze while loading... maybe.

Haha... I'm dedicated. And yes... dial-up sucks... thankfully I get like 45.2 K a lot (according to Windows). DSL... not yet... going to be DSL in the Enterprise area (our county seat) sometime not to far in the future, I think. We have a local wireless ISP, but my dad won't switch to it because it sucks... and it does; our school has it. Oh well... flaky broadband versus dial-up (which is flaky by nature :p) =

heh well what I would do is either download thunderbird and set your gmail account up with that so that email from gmail is sent to it on your computer and you won't have to use your gmail inbox. Or I don't know if it does anything but when I go into gmail in the upper right corner there is a link that says older version. Maybe thats for slower connections?

Lol... yah... the older version is actually an older version of the AJAX standard interface, I think...

Thunderbird... maybe, since Gmail supports IMAP. But, I really love the web interface... (WHEN it works right :D).

. care to be specific about this?
    . ff version used?
. lots of mac users are happier with ff than with safari on their machines, we r using nothing but ff on our mac at the office
. and to the OP, no - i havent encountered any issues with Gmail and FF3 (even using the gmail plugin at the moment).

    cheers ...

mac tiger is a bit tricky with ff. i have seen mac tiger comps with no issue BEFORE ff2.0.0.6 - u might want to try version 2.0.0.5 (available at filehippo) on ur parents machine

    cheers ...
