FF3 is on the right path, but until all my extensions work I must wait. Come on Foxmarks, get your act together!
-
I am wondering if it can play MSN or yahoo games
-
Got it, just need to restart FF, which might happen in a few hours
already on FFb5 so I doubt I'll see much change... -

Forecast: Sometime in June there will be postings complaining about Mozilla / Firefox due to add-ons not yet updated. Reminicient of the drivers from the various external vendors lagging Microsoft's release of Vista.
-
Just downloaded it, i might use this instead of Minefield.
-
Exactly, it's not even Mozilla's fault. It's the makers of the add-ons that are too slow to update. Just like how it isn't even Microsoft's fault. It's the makers of the drivers.

It better not be cutting the fps in half while watching Youtube videos like FF2

does Alt-S work with FF3? What about all those tips to speed up firefox, work with FF3 as well?
-
What does Alt + s do?
-
Apparently open up the history menu.

Could we please keep our insecurity issues out of this? This thread has nothing to do with Vista and its reasons for being criticized.
What is it about Vista users that make them so insecure that they must bring this up in every discussion?
Microsoft is certainly to blame for the driver issues with Vista. It is up to them to ensure driver support, either by allowing old drivers to work, or by providing sufficient support to allow manufacturers to catch up. And of course, by giving manufacturers time to write drivers before releasing the OS.
And for the most part, the situation is the same with Firefox. Mozilla could allow (most) old extensions to work just fine with newer versions, but for various reasons, they require the extension writers to update their extensions for new versions of Firefox.
But ultimately, yes, if plugins don't get updated to work with FF3, then it's at least partly Mozilla's fault. -

Which is why I am not yet running Firefox 3.
-
All plugins I used on FF2 work on FF3.

Soon for me, too, I hope. I have installed FF3 a few times, and like it.
-
I agree with you on the fact that Mozilla could make old plugins with with Firefox 3, that's a fact. But wouldn't that defeat the entire purpose of the update? If they implement a new security system in the addon module of Firefox that requires old plugins to be updated, and they allowed old plugins to work the new security measures would be worthless. While you can partially blame them it, it doesn't make sense really.

Arg, the famous NASA Launch Black Theme isn't compatible with RC1 (according to the Plug-in web page).
I've been using Maxthon Browser 2 for the past few weeks. Been loving that. Just switched back over to FF. Now I'm loving it. Web pages load almost three times as quick and I can get very similar plug-ins. The only downside is that I loved the black theme from Maxthon. Ah compromises.

I am so happy with this new release. Beta 5 still stunk in my opinion. Here is what i like. IT WORKS ON MY WEBSITE correctly.
Previously, firefox's javascript engine was so slow compared to the other browsers that mootools would render slow on them causing my site to have objects be extremely jerky when scrolling. (mootools response was that firefox's engine sucked and they wouldnt support the browser.) Well they fixed it a little! Its not perfect but the rendering engine is much better than before. If only they could make it as good as IE 7...but hey, ill take what i can get!
Even in beta 5 it wasn't fixed, but in rc1 it is

i dont have that much of a problem with ff3 its awesome looks great especially if u got vista. but my addons dont work, stuff like all my themes
, piclens, cooliris,GOOGLE TOOLBAR and stylish to name a few, im keeping both until all my addons are updated. but ff3 is nice , great work ff3 team.
-
i''ll just wait till everybody update there addons
-
Oops I mean can you change the code so Alt-S works with submitting a thread on forums like FF1 did?
-
FF3B5 updated to RC today. Everything seems to work fine so far...
-
never even knew about that. i pressed it and Quick Find pops up. Whats so bad about it?
-
Not in my build... I downloaded it maybe two hours ago.
I came here to say how impressed I am with FF now... I am an IE 7 guy, but the FF team has performed a phenomenal job with this new version.
I'd followed the beta versions and was not very happy.... the last release is ok.
Of course my addons don't work, but that is expected.... if I were finding something to complain about, I guess I could go there... but we all know developers have to keep on top of the changes.
I like that since it ensures the "top" developers are working on their addons and keeping them updated to some degree.
They finally smoothed the text out... it is like ie now. That was my biggest issue before.
I would have liked for the interface to change more than it did... but what they did was ok. -
Just giving this a shot: Does the Free Download Manager plug-in for firefox work for ver 3 RC1?
-
Not to be a smart butt.... but did you know you can install ver 3 and also have version 2 installed?
I have both installed on my computers.... it is not like ie 8 (although ie 8 has the compatibility mode to ie 7 so kinda the same thing).
My apologies if you already knew this.... -
Thanks, but already knew that.
-
Same here, I didn't even know about it.
I've never had this happen to me. I even used an apostrophe in typing this response and didn't get bugged by the quick search thing. -
Quoting myself:
migrating to rc1 was very very easy. Just uninstall ver2 and install rc1. All my cookies, bookmarks, cache and history are still present when I started ff3. Only the Free Download manager Plug-in was disabled
-
You didnt have to uninstall FF2. You could have both and use them. That's what I do
Firefox 3.0 RC1 now available
