I just got this now... And how many people who updated to 3.0.2, find firefox a bit slower?? :(

Or is it just me? or is it just the internet connection here? (though the connection speed tests returned normal results as I have seen before)

Can someone tell me how to install FF3 but be able to uninstall it and revert back to FF2 if I want to? I can't remember how.

I'm using FF2 and I don't want to keep FF3 if my add ons and theme aren't compatible the way I want it to be...

    well.. probably.. idk though.

Now it seems a little better, but at time' the pages get kinda stuck up when loading... or may be its the choppy internet. Anyway, no big deal though :) Still a happy firefox'er I am :)

    Thanks McGrady.

Maybe I'm not the best test subject. Though FF is primarily my main browser still, I have been playing with Google Chrome a lot lately. Haven't done my full browsing habits on FF 3.02 yet, just basics.

It seems to early to tell but the one problem I was having appears to have been fixed. Prior to the update Firefox would crawl if I went to websites that used lots of Flash based ads on the site. So far it's not nearly as bad.

My browser would crawl so bad I would have to turn off JavaScript. Opera doesn't have this problem but I do prefer Firefox. So i'm pleased so far with this update. :)

Another problem I was having intermittently was Firefox was still running even though I closed the program. I would have to stop the process in Vista 32 Task Manager. It's an intermittent problem so i'll wait and see if that has been fixed as well with this update.

Isn't there a 3.1 update in the works for Firefox?

Just upgraded myself. Zero issues thus far (no crashes or anything).

Here's the changelog for those that were curious.

    "# Fixed several security issues.
    # Fixed several stability issues.
    # Official releases for Sinhala and Slovene are now available.
    # Beta releases for Bengali, Galician, Hindi, Icelandic, Kannada, Marathi, Telugu, and Thai are available for testing.
    # Fixed a number of minor issues with the layout of certain web pages.
    # Fixed several theme issues that affected right-to-left locales.
    # Fixed issue that caused some users with customized toolbars to have their Back and Forward buttons go missing (bug 426026)
    # Add new Extended Validation (EV) roots to Firefox 3.0.2.
    # On certain IDN sites, the password manager would not fill in username and password details properly.
    # Fixed several hangs and crashes that occurred when using screen readers.
    # Fixed Mac-specific issues:

    * Keyboard shortcuts would stop working in some cases.
    * Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Indic characters can not be entered (using IME) into text fields in Flash objects (bug 357670)
    * Firefox 3.0.1 could not be used when the user profile is stored on an AFP directory (bug 417037)"

If only one program is not working, then that program is broken. If many programs are not working then the OS is probably broken. Since Firefox works on many, many PCs all around the world, it is more likely that your installation of Firefox is broken than it is that Firefox itself is broken.

I would probably uninstall Firefox (using Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs), delete the Firefox-related folders (under C:\Program Files\, C:\Program Data\, C:\Users\ username\AppData\Local\, C:\Users\ username\AppData\Roaming\), reboot, then reinstall Firefox from a fresh download. It is simplier to just make it right than it is to figure out what may be wrong.

If you have a number of bookmarks, add-ons, and such, you would probably want to document them before uninstalling so you could recreate them in the fresh install. It is usually an incompatible or bad add-on that causes these sorts of problems.

Ok.. I tried to download the new version of CCleaner, from the direct download link (in the other thread), firefox crashed both the times I tried to download... it didn't close or respond.. had to end task / end process.. but it happened everytime the download was actually complete.. because when firefox was closed from task manager, the downloaded file was ok and it was downloaded well... I have no idea what this might indicate.

Firefox 3.0.3 will be out next week to fix a small regression bug in Password Manager (non-ASCII data saved as something other than UTF-8 failing to convert back to Unicode) affecting IDN domains or non en-US domains. There is no permanent data loss risk.

    Lol...this is the Change Log

Firefox 3.0.3 contains the following changes:

Fixed a problem where users were unable to retrieve saved passwords or save new passwords (bug 454708)

That doesn't deserve an update number.

The bug was actually a regression, a fix that was already in place that got erroneously backed out, in V3.0.2. It is fairly standard change management procedure to increment the version for any change. Some vendors "slip stream" changes in, but then the only way to know if you have the latest is by a build number or such. I prefer it when the customary project management disciplines are adhered to, myself.

Now. On to waiting for V3.1!

hmmm I upgraded to 3.0.3 and now I get this error whenever I try to run firefox.

"This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may ix the problem."

I tried re-installing it and that didn't help, and I cant uninstall it because it says it cant find the files when I try to :/

Had significant issues, had to download 3 times. Finally could not use FF. Used System restore to to get back.
