installed new FF 3.6 and am extremely disappointed, slow and buggy. Almost unusable, a big step backward. When going to a new site the screen turns blurry for a few seconds. Could be an overuse of resources?
-
I have been using 3.6 ever since it came out and experience none of these problems. Are you sure it's not your computer itself?
-
Cnet has reviews with similar problems with 64 bit systems. I have a new dual core w7 64 bit unit. FF 3.59 worked perfectly.
-
Have you tried 3.6.3? Because 3.6.0 is ancient.
-
I have 32 bit on mine, so not really sure about problems with 64 bit.
-
Yes got a message to update to 3.63 yesterday from mozilla after the installation the screen started fading and there was a script running in the background. Checked Cnet for reviews and found a few similar complaints. Sometimes there is a rush to beat competition with upgrades before they are thoroughly tested. It happens a lot, unexpected from FF though.

I would update your firefox and see if it fixes you problem.
-
I have FF 3.6.3 in two 64bit notebooks and it has been running smoothly. No problems whatsoever.Maybe there is something in your unit that conflicts.

To avoid cluttering up the Browser Update Thread, I've moved these posts to a new thread (see my post)

3.6.3 FF on win 7 64...(two diff machines), no problems.

I had noticed the same behavior with FF 3.6.3. FF does use too much CPU/ HDD access when starting websites with flash content. After sometime the resource usage becomes normal.
-
What version of Flash are you using? Like you, I'm using Firefox v3.6.3 on Windows 7 x64. With the Flash v10.1 RCs I haven't noticed anything similar to the OP's issue (blurry screen) but have seen occasional slowdowns or glitches in one release which are resolved in the next RC release.

I am still on version 10.0.45.2.

I think Firefox is really going downhill. Since I switched to Chrome I've never looked back. Cleaner interface and much faster.
Maybe FF 3.7 will be better? -
Are the CPU spikes occurring when loading pages with Flash video? If so, you would see immediate improvements in CPU usage with Flash v10.1, which can hardware accelerate Flash video on the 8400M GT. The most current version is v10.1 RC4; Adobe is expected to ship the final version within a month or so.
