This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     Firefox 3.6.13 suddenly refuses to launch!

    ...on an HP dv6t-se laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium. Have no idea why. I suppose I should nuke the Firefox install from orbit--I suspect it's an add-on causing the problem-- is there an easy way to start Firefox in "safe mode" via a command line switch?

    There should be a shortcut for it but .. ' -safe-mode'

    Have you checked if you have another instance of Firefox in memory, preventing you from opening another one? Nuke the process from Task Manager before trying to open Firefox again?

    Yes I did check that. Also very weird is that at one point it got so I would try to launch it and nothing would happen, then I'd check the task manager and not find firefox.exe in the process list at all.

    I finally just backed up my profile with MozBackup, uninstalled (making sure to delete profile etc), restarted the computer, reinstalled, and restored the profile without add ons. It works again now.

    Why are you using some strange download manager when Firefox will automatically search and prompt for updates?
