Was wondering when they were going to release an update, seemed odd they hadn't released one yet. Well, seems like they just released it.
I tried to update it through Firefox itself but it didn't work.
You can download it from here:
http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/moz...ses/4.0.1/win32/en-US/Firefox Setup 4.0.1.exe
No clue what it fixes but I guess they fixed something.

thanks for the notification . Formatting system and installing new version as I dont want to corrupt my registry
bye bye -
LOL. That is the funniest thing I've ever read on these forums.
By the time you get back they probably would have released 4.0.2.
If you're serious, then my man, don't worry about it. Just go ahead and install it. Your registry will be fine. -

seriously? that has to be a joke, no? formatting system? for a simple .0.1 update?
you know that you can't corrupt the registry easily at all in 2011, right? you know that this was mostly a problem of windows 98, > 10 years ago, right?
i guess it's just a joke.
i hope.
anyways, i wait for the update to come in automatically. it's not my main browser anyways, i use it mostly for compatibility testings. -
Offcourse it's a joke guys sheesh.
Updated just fine. Canot notice anything different I would say -

you say that now after the clean installation...
you know, in this forum, ANYTHING's possible
bug fix list out yet? -
I noticed that it's much snappier when loading pages and when creating new tabs or switching to tabs
-
Anyone know what's actually changed?
-
Does it restore the ability to highlight the address bar with F6 and the search bar with Ctrl+E? If not, do the add-ons that restore them still work? I know they're little things, but unless I can get them back in Firefox 4, I'm sticking with 3.6.
-
Sticking with 3.6 is a bad idea, even if you miss those features. Security patches are going to be in 4.0+ releases.
-
Except that mozilla continues to support 3.6.x, which means it will receive updates for the time being too. Same deal as ubuntu 11 vs 10.10 vs 10.4, they'll gradually cease support for the older ones, keyword gradually.
-
Didn't realize that.
-
That's why 3.6 got the HTTPS certificate fix, correct?
-
Norton tool bar still does not work with firefox 4.01,,for firefox 4.0 there is a fix,,if you upgrade to 4.01 the toolbar disappears,,,
the fix:
"Also of note: This hotfix will NOT address compatibility issues with Firefox 4 and the Norton Toolbar on the Comcast Norton Security Suite"
Firefox 4 compatibility hotfix is now available - Norton Community
Firefox 4.01 will be fixed sooner or later.
Cheers

A few initial impressions and issues...
The non-optional transparency is a horrible idea, IMHO. I was relieved to find out that you can disable it by adding a few lines of code in the userChrome.css file, but I don't see why it's not available in Tools->Options.
Another issue is the dissappearance of the status bar, since some plugins don't have toolbar buttons (yet) and put icons only in the status bar. I guess most plugins will update to address this issue, so in the long run this won't really be an issue.
A hardware-related issue that appeared for me was that my Alps touchpad driver lost back/forward navigation and horizontal scroll capabilities after the upgrade from version 3.6 to version 4. I managed to get the back/forward navigation to work through a driver hack, but the horizontal scroll still doesn't work.
On a positive note, it's noticeably faster than version 3.6 and almost all my plugins turned out to be compatible with version 4. So apart from a few plugins without easily accessible toolbar icons (due to the dissappearance of the status bar) and the horizontal scroll issue (not absolutely vital to me), I'm quite content with version 4... -
Has anyone noticed higher power consumption with 4? It seems to be a good 1W higher than 3.6.
