I recently started using Firefox again, and I have a question.

When I download something, the download screen shows, and after it is done, I can open it from there.

After I install whatever it is I downloaded, I go back to the Firefox download box, and I can choose to "Clear List".

The only problem is, the "Usually .exe" is still saved in the downloads folder. Which means I have to go to the folder, select it, and delete it.

Is there any way when I select the "Clear List" option, that it will also delete the file from the folder, and put it in the Recycle Bin?

Eh, that doesn't really bother me. What could be easier is if you set Firefox to save to the desktop, so when you delete files you don't have to go through the Downloads folder.

how about the other way around? don't care about the list and just delete it from the download folder, but enable "clear items after download" (or after closing the browser??).

edit: another option: i think downthemall allows deletion from the list? but i'm unsure.. anyways, it's a nice tool: DownThemAll!

edit2: another option: istead of saving, then doubleclicking, then installing, then deleting, how about the ie way? meaning chose "run" directly: OpenDownload

edit3: there's the option to have the os context menu in the download list, so you can delete it: Downloads Context Menu

Thanks for the post. The second one is something I will definitely be using. Thanks again.

i might be trying out opendownload.. i download lotsa softwares.

it would be fun to define per filetype what it should give as options. that would then be another ext, i'd say :)
