The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Firefox Search Functionality

    It used to be if i started typing in firefox with no field selected it would automatically begin a search of what i was typing. From there I could hit enter if the search had highlighted a link.

    This was a great way to quickly navigate certain homepages. Anyway, all my extensions got messed up for some reason and i've lost this ability.

    Since i don't know where it came from I don't know how to recover it.

    Did you delete any of your extensions? Try to guess and re-install some of the extensions.

    Hit the / key first and you'll start searching the page.

    go into the Tools>Options window.
    Go to the Advanced section.
    Click the General tab.
    Check the box that says "begin finding when you begin typing."

    I have that unchecked, yet it still works!
    I never bothered to understand why since I like the feature and use it all the time.
