Recently, my Vantec Lapcool 2 died and I've been using my notebook without a cooler for the past week. Zipzoomfly really is taking 5 to 7 days to deliver my new Coolermaster Notepal. Anyway, it hit 80F in NY today with the ambient office temp being around 75. I use my notebook for about 12 hours continuously every day for work. Around the 9th hour of use today, I noticed a glitch in Firefox. I can't seem to load a site by using the address bar. I can click on my CNN bookmark to get to CNN, but if I type CNN.COM, then it just reloads whatever page I'm on. My temps were hovering around 50C for both the CPU and HDD. I don't think this is a heat issue, but I haven't installed anything new and can't think of another reason. FYI, I've tried uninstalling > cleaning the registry > using CCleaner > restarting > reinstalling Firefox to no avail. Anyone have any ideas? I really don't want to use another browser.

occassionally, I've gotten a similar issue - closing the browser usually works for me or rebooting the system clears it out too.

Not in my case... can't seem to get it to work. I tried uninstalling, then deleting whatever remnants manually... still no luck. As it stands now, I'll have to go back to IE till I can figure out a solution.

You could manually clear cookies, cache and the like. Sometimes those get left behind on uninstalls.

Fixed it. Deleting the Firefox folders from both Program Files and Application Data, then reinstalling did the trick. Thanks anyway guys.

The glitch is back... I was due for a fresh reinstall anyway.

Have you done a search over at the Mozilla forums for someone having a similar problem? I've found answers to numorous questions by doing quick searches there.

I did a fresh install and the problem came back. I uninstalled one by one the extensions that I use and it turned out to be Gspace that was causing the problem.

Try using opera until a new FF build comes out. I had to do that the last time FF was getting buggy on me. That was about 6 months ago, I must have forgotten to switch back... :D
